Goodbye NCU
April 28, 2023
Dear Friends and Colleagues of NCU,
As we near the end of the 2022-23 school season, it is with sadness I share with you this news.
After 24 years as an Adjunct Faculty and 22 years as the Director of the Jazz Workshops ensembles at NCU, I am resigning my positions. As an alumni, it has been a particular honor to serve the Lord in these capacities and join you in the work of educating and investing in the spiritual formation of young people.
During my tenure there have been many significant milestones. One that stands out to me has been the opportunity to train instrumentalists. NCU Jazz was honored with the 1st place finish in the College Combos category at the Eau Claire Jazz Festivals in 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2023. NCU students competed against State-level universities from the Midwest region from private Liberal arts colleges up to Big Ten universities.
This August, I will be hosting a reunion and semi-retirement concert, including the music of our NCU Jazz alumni. I invite you to join us for this celebration. Details are still unfolding as I write this. The best way to receive the concert details is to join the waiting list. I genuinely hope you can join us!
May the Lord’s hand of blessing continue to be upon you and NCU in the decades to come. It has been an honor to serve Him alongside you.
Sincerely,
Peter Shu
